While last generation wasn’t the easiest to get through if you had a limited storage capacity on PS4, there were at least a lot of relatively cheap options for external and internal upgrades. With PS5 and its super-fast SSD however, pricing is pretty different and so are the potential storage solutions available.
Unlike the PS4 however, upping the number of ‘Gigs’ available to store games and applications is a little more accessible thanks to the PS5’s expandable storage slot, separate from its core, internal SSD.
In regards to pricing, since we’re talking a massive uptick in storage speed here, that does mean prices are a little beefier this time around. Not only that, but on the technical side, since this is a custom-designed storage solution, the requirements and specifications are stricter than last-gen.
